The NHS is not just doctors and nurses - there are many varied careers in the NHS. We offer a range of apprenticeships and experiences here at City Hospitals Sunderland.

The NHS is not just about doctors and nurses - there are around 300 different careers in the NHS and here at City Hospitals Sunderland we offer a range of experiences to a range of ages.

Just to name a few departments, we have a Catering Department, a Sterile Services Department, Portering and Security, Administration, Therapy Services, an Estates Department, Radiology, Pharmacy and of course Doctors and Nurses!

If you would like to complete work experience at City Hospitals Sunderland we ask that you have a genuine interest in your chosen placement and will come in with a positive attitude and lots of enthusiasm!

Apprenticeships

Work Experience

City Hospitals Sunderland is committed to supporting work experience/ shadowing placements for students, utilising all appropriate clinical and non-clinical areas to provide a range of work based activities. These placements give an insight into, and actively promote, careers across a wide range of job within the Trust. Due to the high demand for placements, priority will be given to applicants applying through structured programmes, delivered in conjunction with partner organisations across the City.
