Plain Film Radiography (X-ray)
Plain Film Radiography, or X-ray, is a vital tool in the diagnosis of many disorders. The Trust's Plain Film staff is a dedicated and experienced team, able to get the clearest image possible to aid in diagnosis and taking patients through their procedure with confidence.
Plain Film Radiograhy is part of the Radiology department.
X rays at City Hospitals Sunderland are computerised to ensure maximum clarity and that images can be distributed to relevant staff as quickly as possible. The procedure is carried out by specially trained Radiographers and is mainly used to look at bones and joints but can also be useful in looking at some soft tissue, such as organs.
