Computed Tomography (CT)

Computed Tomography (CT) is part of the Radiology department.

Compromsign of three CT scanners, the Trust's CT service provides a range of imaging services to aid and efficiently facilitate the further care of patients.

We provide for all inpatient examinations and as well as an extensive range of outpatient examinations.

Two scanners are located in the main Radiology department in the main block of Sunderland Royal Hospital, with a third located in the Emergency Department diagnostic hub. This merging of services allows for unparalleled access to diagnostic imaging for acute and emergency patients.

Our comprehensive service offers specialist examinations including biopsies, percutaneous cryo-therapies, colonography studies and cardiac investigations.

The CT Suite can be found within the main Radiology Department situated centrally on level C.

Kayll Road entrance: Enter through main entrance and continue past the shops to the main lifts, proceed to level C and follow signed directions

Multi-storey car park: Proceed to either the main entrance as per Kayll Road Entrance instructions or enter through main Accident and Emergency entrance(Entrance 3): proceed to follow the corridor directly ahead through two sets of doors, radiology will then be immediately on your right.

Chester Wing car park: Enter through the Chester Wing entrance and follow the corridor directly ahead. Continue to follow this until you pass the lifts on your left, immediately turn left and continue down the corridor. Radiology will be on your left
