Valentine’s treats help Sunderland Royal patients feel the love

Patients at Sunderland Royal felt the love this week, when they were presented with a surprise Valentine’s afternoon tea prepared by the catering staff from CHoICE facilities services.

The team visited all wards and handed out Viennese whirls and chocolate mousse to accompany the afternoon drinks round. Volunteers from the portering, management and laundry team also got involved to make sure every patient staying in the hospital was offered the sweet treat.

Denise Carr, Head of Catering at CHoICE, said: “Our CHoICE moments have become a regular event and are very much appreciated by the patients. No-one wants to spend time in hospital and be away from family and loved ones. Our team really enjoy the opportunity to spend some time chatting to the patients and seeing lots of smiles.”
