Ann has devoted her career to advancing healthcare in Sunderland in everyway she could. With her retirement approaching in December 2017, Chief Executive Ken Bremner decided to recognise the many achievements and outstanding contribution Ann has made to City Hospitals Sunderland, both in the switchboard department and as a representative for Unison.

As well as receiving recognition for her many years service, Ann was also to chose which area of City Hospitals Sunderland Charity's work would receive the £759.26 raised in donations that night.

Ann nominated the Head and Neck cancer fund, after her father was treated by Mr Christopher Hartley (Consultant ENT), Rachael Bannister-Young (Lead Cancer Nurse) and Michael Caygill (Senior Speech and Language Therapist).
